Trooper James Munday was Killed in a blast in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Wednesday 15th
October 2008, during a routine patrol, shortly before his Tour of Duty was due to end.

James had joined the Army on 9 February 2005 and was known as "Magpie" by his colleagues

James, who was from Birmingham had served alongside Prince William in D Squadron of The Household
Cavalry. He had also previously served alongside Prince Harry in the same regiment.

In a statement, Clarence House have said both princes were "deeply saddened" by his passing and have
called him an "exceptional soldier. Together with the rest of their regiment, the two Princes'
heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this most distressing of times."

James was a keen sportsman, being an enthusiastic horseman and expert downhill skier.

He will be sorely missed by his parents, friends and all those that had served in the Line Of Duty
with him.

Hi
I only got to meet you once but that once was enough to make your mark, Me and my dad work with your dad and he was always proud of you and he still is.
It weird to think your younger than me but achieved more than i ever could dream of.
I know your in heaven watching down on everyone. You fought for our country and we thank you.
Rest in peace xxx

T'was The Night Before Christmas, He Lived All Alone
In A One Bedroom House Made Of Plaster And Stone
I Had Come Down The Chimney With Presents To Give
And To See Just Who, In This Small Home Did Live

I Looked All About, A Strange Sight I Did See -
No Tinsel No Presents, Not Even A Tree.
No Stocking By The Mantle Just Boots Filled With Sand
On The Wall Hung Pictures Of A Far Distant Land
With Medals And Badges, Awards Of All Kinds.
Then A Sober Thought Came Into My Mind

For This House Was Different, It Was Dark And Dreary,
T'was The Home Of A Soldier, Once I Could See Clearly
The Soldier Lay Sleeping, Silent, Alone
Curled Up On The Floor In This One Bedroom Home

The Face Was So Gentle, The Room In Disorder
Not How I Pictured A Lone Soldier..
Was This The Hero Of Whom I'd Just Read,
Curled Up On A Poncho, The Floor For A Bed

I Realised The Families That I Saw This Night
Owed Their Lives To These Soldiers, Who Were Willing To Fight
And Soon Round The World The Children Would Play
And Grownups Would Celebrate A Bright Christmas Day

They All Enjoy Freedom Each Month Of The Year
Because Of The Soldiers, Like The One Lying Here.
I Couldn't Help But Wonder, How Many Alone,
On A Cold Christmas Eve In A Land Far From Home?

The Very Thought Brought A Tear To My Eye
I Dropped To My Knees And Started To Cry
The Soldier Awakened, I Heard A Rough Voice
"Santa Don't Cry, This Life Is My Choice.
I Fight For Freedom, I Don't Ask For More
My Life Is My God, My Country, My Corps"

The Soldier Rolled Over And Drifted To Sleep.
I Couldn't Control It, I Continued To Weep.

I Kept Watch For Hours, So Silent And Still
And We Both Sat And Shivered From The Cold Nights Chill.
I Didn't Want To Leave, On That Cold Dark Night,
This Guardian Of Honour, So Willing To Fight...

Then The Soldier Rolled Over With A Voice Soft And Pure
Whispered "carry On Santa, Christmas Day Is Secure"
One Look At My Watch And I Knew He Was Right
"Merry Christmas My Friend - And To All A Good Night!"

This Poem Was Written By A British Peace Keeping Soldier
Stationed Overseas.

A SPECIAL FRIEND X
.☆ * ☆ * ☆ * ☆ *☆ * ☆ * .☆ * ☆ * ☆ * ☆ *☆ * ☆

If u love me as a friend u'll read the whole thing. What would you do if for every moment you were truly happy there would be 10 moments of sadness? What would you do if your best friend died tomorrow and you never got to tell them how you felt? So, I just wanted to say, even if I never talk to you again in my life, you are special to me and you have made a difference in my life. I look up to you, respect you, and truly cherish you. Send this to all your friends, no matter how often you talk, or how close you are, and send it to the person who sent it to you. Let old friends know you haven't forgotten them, and tell new friends you never will. Remember, everyone needs a friend. dont ever leave the one u love for the one u like, because the one u like will leave u for the one they love.
If you wake up in a red room with no windows and doors, DON'T panic.. you're just in my heart!!! Send this to all the friends you want to keep forever...

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We will remember them.
